Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
